SWIM TO SURVIVE AIMS TO CURB DROWNING RELATED DEATHS

The City is offering classes this summer, teaching young swimmers how to Swim to Survive.

Matt Price, one of the co-ordinators of the Swim to Survive program says its a drowning prevention program for kids between the ages of five and 12 taking place at Beavermead beach.

    How to roll into deep water, how to tread water for 1 minute and how to swim 50 metres are just some of the lessons being taught.

The program kicked off last Saturday, and continues every Saturday until August 8th. If you want to register your child, registration details are on our website To register, call 705-742-7777 ext. 1873 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or visit the recreation division at 210 Wolfe St.
