BUSY NIGHT AHEAD FOR CITY COUNCILLORS

We could soon have an idea of what tax increase awaits us in 2018.

The early projections are staff is looking at an increase of 2.85 per cent next year.

Tonight, the Budget Committee will open dialogue on the issue and will announce plans a special meeting for members of the public to give feedback next Wednesday.

Councillors are expected to officially sign-off on the expected tax hike at a meeting in late July.

Committee of the Whole will also get together this evening, with the agenda including discussion over a new splash pad at Barnardo Park and expropriating property on Parkhill Road West for widening between Ravenwood and Brealey.

The open portion of the meeting will start at 6:30.
