POLICE GETTING THEIR IRISH UP OVER DRUNK DRIVERS
3/20/2017 3:33:23 PM

While everyone was getting their Irish on for St. Patrick's Day, the Peterborough Police Traffic Unit conducted a number of RIDE checks throughout the City.

Sgt Jeff Chartier says between 6pm and 4am, more than 2200 vehicles were checked, and three were arrested and charged with impaired driving

In comparison, in 2016, Police checked just a little more than 1700 vehicles and arrested four people for impaired driving, and two others had their cars towed and licence suspended after blowing in the warn range.

Officials also warn motorists with school back in session again today, they'll be performing a focused detail at school zones ensuring drivers are stopping for school buses and making sure that crossing guards and kids are completely through the intersection.
