FUNERAL TO BE HELD FOR J.J. STEWART IN NORWOOD

One of Peterborough County's most recognizable community members will be laid to rest today. J.J. Stewart, founder of J.J. Stewart Motors Limited in Norwood died on Friday at the age of 102. The funeral for Stewart will be held this afternoon at Norwood United Church starting at 2 p.m.

The City and the Peterborough Humane Society are reminding everyone about our new Animal By-law. Under the new rules cats will have to be registered and licensed. Andrew Fraser, the PHS Executive Director, says cat registration can begin right away.

St. Peter Secondary School is trying to raise the bar when it comes to raising money for the Terry Fox Foundation. This year, the school's annual campaign is trying to bring in $100,000 or roughly $100 per student.

401 CRASH TAKES THE LIFE OF TWO PEOPLE

A crash on the 401 that claimed the life of two Cobourg residents, remains under investigation. Officers responded after a vehicle traveling on the westbound 401 at around 8am on Thursday morning, went into a ditch near the Newtonville Road exit.

A 41 year old man is facing serious charges after a traffic stop in the County. Peterborough County OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 7 just before 8 o?clock yesterday evening and found it had stolen plates.

TD TREE DAYS LANDING AT RIVERVIEW PARK AND ZOO

Today is TD Tree Days and dozens of volunteers are descending upon the Riverview Park and Zoo. More than 50 volunteers are planting 250 new trees and shrubs are being planted along the Otonabee River shoreline at the Zoo.

69 YEAR OLD LOCAL WOMAN LOST TO A CRASH SOUTH OF BOBCAYGEON

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP continues to investigate a fatal crash south of Bobcaygeon. Emergency responders, including OPP officers, raced to the scene of a two vehicle collision at about 3:30pm on Kawartha Lakes Road 36.

STOLEN PLATE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO A SLEW OF CHARGES

A routine traffic stop has apparently led to a significant drug seizure by the OPP. Investigators say they stopped a vehicle on Highway 7 for having stolen plates just before 8pm last night.
