PETERBOROUGH UNITED WAY RAISES OVER $2.2 MILLION DURING 2014 CAMPAIGN

Despite just falling short of their 2014 campaign goal, officials with the United Way of Peterborough are pleased they'll be able to donate more than $2.2 million to local charities. The announcement was made at the Holiday Inn in Peterborough Friday afternoon.

HEALTH UNIT ISSUES FROSTBITE ALERT JUST IN TIME FOR THE WEEKEND

The Peterborough County City Health Unit has issued another Frostbite Alert just in time for the weekend. This is the 6th so far this season. The wind chill values this weekend are expected to hover around -33 Saturday, -29 Sunday and -33 Monday.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING AFTER CRASH NEAR KAWARTHA DOWNS

A collision in front of the slots at Kawartha Downs has led to charges against a 54 year-old man. OPP were called around 11 o'clock last night when a pickup truck crossed the centre line and struck a northbound vehicle on County Road 28.

CCAC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS NOW ON STRIKE

Healthcare Workers at nine Community Care Access Centres across Ontario, including in the Central East-area, are hitting the picket lines. A strike deadline came and went overnight, putting almost 3,000 people off the job.

The tougher the challenge, it seems the tougher the resolve for the Petes. Peterborough skated to an impressive 6-5 upset of Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters last night. Head coach Jody Hull spoke after the game about how playing in front of over 3,800 fans makes his job easier.

PETERBOROUGH POLICE WILL BE KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THE ROADS SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

As football fans head out to watch the big game on Sunday, members of the Peterborough Police will be watching them. Sergeant Jeff Chartier from the Traffic Services Unit says there will be a RIDE program setup from before kick-off until after the Lombardi Trophy is handed out.
