PETES ACQUIRE NEW GOALTENDER FROM GUELPH

The Petes have brought a new, and experienced goaltender into the fold. General Manager Mike Oke announced today that Matt Mancina has been acquired from Guelph in exchange for a 3rd round pick in 2015 and a 3rd round pick in 2017.

TIM HORTONS ALTERCATION RESULTS IN ONE ARREST SO FAR

An investigation into an incident at a Tim Horton's parking lot last night has led to an arrest and the search for another suspect. City police responded to reports of an altercation involving 3 men, in the parking lot of the store on Lansdowne Street West by Sobey's at 11:20pm.

BEST IN BUSINESS HONOURED BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The best in business have been honoured by the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce. Last night, the Chamber held its annual Business Excellence Awards and Mary LaRocque of Marlin Travel was named Business Citizen of the Year. Among the other awards, BOATsmart was named Employer of the Year.

SUSPECTS WANTED FOLLOWING BREAK-IN AT LOCAL CAFE

Unknown suspects tried to 'seize the day' and are now wanted by police. Officers say around 12:45 yesterday morning, the Carpe Diem Cafe on Armour Road was broken into. At this time, no items appear to have been stolen but about $900 in damage was done to the front door.

UPDATE: CITY POLICE INVESTIGATE ALTERCATION OUTSIDE A LOCAL TIM HORTONS

City police have released a bit more information regarding an incident outside the Tim Hortons on Lansdowne Street West in the Sobeys plaza. Investigators are looking to speak to witnesses following an altercation between a group of males around 11:20 last night.

FLEMING SWEPT IN BASKETBALL DOUBLEHEADER BY CENTENNIAL

The Fleming College basketball season is underway, but it didn't start on a winning note. In the men's game, the Knights were beaten 104-92 by Centennial in a high scoring affair. The other game wasn't nearly as exciting, as the women were routed 77-18 by the Colts.

The Petes return to the ice looking to put the brakes on a six-game losing skid when they welcome the Saginaw Spirit to the Memorial Centre. On Thanksgiving weekend, Peterborough was doubled up 6-3 in Saginaw.

EXCALIBUR OPEN VOLLEYBALL SEASON WITH A WIN AND A LOSS

The Trent Excalibur hit the court for another season of volleyball action, welcoming the Durham Lords to the city. Both teams had mixed results. The men were swept in straight sets by Durham, while the women won in three sets. Both squads will be back in action on Sunday at home against Canadore.
