DEL MASTRO TO HOST WEEKEND BLOOD DONOR CLINIC

Residents are encouraged to make a difference by giving blood. Peterborough MP Dean Del Mastro is hosting a Blood Donor Clinic tomorrow at Canadian Blood Services on George Street. As part of 'Make a Difference Day', Del Mastro will be joined by Faith Dickinson of Cuddles for Cancer.

BREAK-IN AT PARKHILL ROAD HAIR SALON

The search for suspects is on following a break-in at a local hair salon. City police say sometime between last Saturday and Tuesday, the business on Parkhill Road was entered. The culprits allegedly tried to steal cash from the register but it appears nothing was taken.

38 YEAR-OLD PETERBOROUGH MAN CHARGED FOR ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

A 38 year-old man has been arrested and charged after a violent incident at a Peterborough home. City police say a victim was allegedly assaulted, by a man he knew, with a metal bar while he was asleep. The victim needed to be taken to hospital to be treated for undisclosed injuries.

THIRD SUSPECT BEING SOUGHT IN PARKING LOT ALTERCATION

City police are still searching for a third suspect in relation to an altercation between males in the parking lot of the Tim Hortons on Lansdowne Street West. He is described as black, possibly in his 20s, medium height and had a muscular build.

OJHL: MUSKIES HOME TO WELLINGTON

The Lindsay Muskies are back on the ice, welcoming the Wellington Dukes to town. The Muskies sit at 7-7-1 on the season but are coming off a victory over the Toronto Patriots last Friday. Lindsay is currently in fourth place in the North Division.

SEMI-FINAL DAY FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

A big day in local high school football. There will be plenty of action on the gridiron in Peterborough throughout the day as the semi-finals take place at Thomas A. Stewart. Crestwood will take on Fenelon Falls and Adam Scott plays the TASS/Kenner joint squad.

TRAFFIC REMINDERS FOR LOCAL MOTORISTS

A note for all commuters that there is some issues on local streets because of construction. Eastbound traffic on Hunter Street will be closed at George. Officials also remind drivers that Water Street will also be reduced to one lane for construction at Hunter.

OLD YMCA BUILDING GETTING MAJOR FACELIFT

There has been some great news when it comes to economic development in the downtown area. At an event yesterday, representatives from Atria Development Corporation were on-hand to announce plans for the old YMCA building at Murray and George.
