There will be a special blood donor clinic on Saturday from nine until noon at the Ennismore Curling Club. Its the 10th annual Don Young In Honour Blood Donor Clinic. Don lost both of his legs in an industrial accident eleven years ago and needed 30 units of blood.

PROVINCE ANNOUNCES EXPANDED OHIP COVERAGE FOR PHSYIO

Eight physiotherapy clinics in the Central-East LIHN area are benefitting from some new provincial funding, and seniors in the community will as well. The Provincial Government has announced just over $1.4 milliion to fund physiotherapy treatments for seniors and other qualified patients.

DISTRACTED DRIVING AND MISCHIEF IN KAWARTHA LAKES

OPP say the message is still not getting through about distracted driving. An officer at Walsh Road and Kawartha Lakes Road noticed a driver texting and not wearing a seatbelt on Monday. 22 year-old Jonathan Newnham of Lindsay is facing charges.

The curtain has been lifted on who is leading the annual United Way Peterborough & District Community Campaign. Brian O'Toole has been named this year's Chair. O'Toole is a Community Manager at Scotiabank and says he's looking forward to the challenge.

TREE PLANTING DAY ON SATURDAY ACROSS FROM PRHC

Earth Day activities are extending into this weekend in Peterborough. Peterborough Green-Up is partnering with Trees Ontario, for a tree planting event on Saturday. It goes from 10:00 a.m. until Noon around the storm-management pond, across from PRHC.

HUMANE SOCIETY DONATION BOX TAKEN FROM LINDSAY BUSINESS

A thief has made off with a donation box from a business in Lindsay. City of Kawartha Lakes Police say the box, which was raising money for the local Humane Society, was taken sometime on Monday from the Buck-A-Roo store on Kent Street West. The amount missing hasn't been determined.
