TWO MONTH INVESTIGATION INTO BUSINESS THEFTS LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS

A two month investigation into thefts in the region has led to the arrest of a man and woman. City police members from the Street Crime Unit and High Risk Unit began investigating break and enters and thefts from various businesses throughout the city and county.

WEAPONS AND THEFTS KEPT POLICE BUSY OVER THE WEEKEND

Police are looking for any information about a break in to the Kinsmen Arena Friday night. Officers responded to an alarm call at around 10p.m. and found that there was some damaged property and a candy dispenser in the arena parking lot. Damage is pegged at $1400.

PETERBOROUGH COUNTY OPP LAID MULTIPLE DRINKING AND DRIVING CHARGES OVER THE WEEKEND

Peterborough County OPP laid a pair of drinking and driving charges over the weekend. On Saturday night, a 27 year-old from Trent Lakes was stopped on Allen Road and about an hour later, a 45 year-old man from Stouffville blew over the limit at a RIDE Check on County Road 40 in Asphodel Norwood.

GREAT START TO THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE ENNISMORE JAMES GANG

The Ennismore James Gang finally began their playoff push over the weekend playing the Oakville Titans in OLA Senior B lacrosse action. After finishing 14-2 in the regular season, the James Gang posted two victories to open their series, including a 10-6 win last night.

It was a very successful weekend on the gridiron in Peterborough. The Bantam and Junior Varsity Wolverines put their undefeated regular season records on the line over the weekend and continued the winning trends.

JR. LAKERS NOW ON THE BRINK OF ELIMINATION

The Jr. Lakers are now on the ropes after dropping Game 5 of their semi-final series in Six Nations. Peterborough was beaten 13-8 by the Arrows, who became the first home team to notch a victory. The Lakers will look to avoid elimination tonight at home in Game 6.

OPP WARN TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR DOWNED WIRES

Residents of Peterborough were treated to a bit of a light show over the weekend. The city was hit with quite a bit of rain, thunder and lightning last night. Following the system, OPP remind everyone to be on the lookout for downed wires.

RESIDENTS SPEND TIME 'HONOURING THE SACRIFICE' OVER THE WEEKEND

Plenty of residents spent time 'Honouring the Sacrifice' over the weekend. A non-denominational service was held at the Murray Street Baptist Church yesterday, which featured music and hymns that were actually part of the services conducted during the two World Wars.

TOURISM OFFICIALS ADD SIGNS TO MARK THE BEST LOCAL CYCLING ROUTES

The Peterborough-area is an amazing place to cycle and the local tourism association wants to highlight that regional asset. Peterborough and Kawarthas Tourism is partnering with Shimano, to add signs across the region, marking the area's best cycling routes.

KITCHEN FIRE AT AYLMER STREET HOME

About $25,000 in damage was caused to a home on Aylmer Street following a weekend fire. On Saturday morning, flames broke out in the kitchen area of the residence. Despite the damage, no injuries were reported.
